- Germany won the title at the U18 European Championship in Serbia

Two SG Youngsters Win Gold

For the third time—following victories in 2008 and 2012—a DHB selection won the U18 European Championship. They defeated Slovenia 36–27 in the final in Belgrade. Right in the thick of the celebrations were Moritz Detlefsen and Constantin Minning from SG Flensburg-Handewitt.

On Tuesday evening, the German U18 team had actually already been eliminated, but then went on to become European champions after all: The German U18 team, led by national coach Erik Wudtke, experienced a fairy-tale run at the European Championship in Serbia. The final against Slovenia was evenly matched at first. With a 5–0 run, the young German handball players took a 17–11 lead at halftime. After that, there was no longer any doubt about their victory. When the final whistle blew, a wave of German jubilation swept through the Nikolic Arena in Belgrade. The two SG players were right in the thick of it. Moritz Detlefsen scored eight goals during the tournament, while Constantin Minning found the net twice.

SG Flensburg-Handewitt congratulates the German team on their tremendous success.
