After the two days in Hamburg, the SG squad has entered the final week of the season. Preparations for the last two games have been underway since Tuesday. “When a season comes to an end, the players are already struggling mentally,” notes Aleš Pajović. “On top of that, there’s now the disappointment and the tough moments from the weekend.” The SG coach is confident that his team can overcome this challenge. He can rely on his usual roster to do so. With a win, the SG could close in on Füchse Berlin if the latter slip up in Melsungen. ThSV Eisenach has secured its place in the league and, with its unconventional defensive strategies, is considered a tough opponent. In their last meeting, the Thuringians secured a point with a 39-39 draw in the “Hölle Nord.” Marko Grgić was still on the other side back then and scored twelve goals.
60 minutes of handball and a farewell ceremony
Aleš Pajović has clear plans for the final game of the season. “From the very first minute, we want to prove that we intend to keep the two points here,” he emphasizes. “We want to put on a good show—for the fans and for the four guys who are leaving us.” A ceremony will be held for the quartet after the game. Captain Johannes Golla (385 appearances, 1,381 goals) is moving to MT Melsungen after eight years with the SG. Kevin Møller (359 appearances, 8 goals) has played a total of nine seasons with the SG. His athletic future lies with his former club, GOG. Lukas Jørgensen (119 appearances, 401 goals) joined the SG in 2023 and has been dealing with a torn cruciate ligament since January. His future club is One Veszprém. Adin Faljić (19 appearances, 1 goal) has been helping out at SG since February. Thilo Knutzen is not leaving. The youngster still has an SG contract and will be loaned to HK Malmö.
