Two points in Hamburg

The SG Flensburg-Handewitt landed its first victory in 2026 early on Sunday evening, winning the northern duel at HSV Hamburg by 38:35 (20:14). The SG's top scorers were Simon Pytlick (9), Niclas Kirkeløkke (8) and Lasse Møller (7).

The first goosebump moment came five minutes before the throw-off. The team ran right out of the entrance gate, where around 1000 fans had prepared a choreography: blue-white-red. The Hamburg home side took the first lead of the day. The first goal for the SG was scored by Lasse Møller, who was in the starting line-up this time. Domen Novak had come to Hamburg, but Aksel Horgen started on the right wing. The Norwegian counter-attacked to make it 5:4. The 6:0 defense was very attentive and won the ball a lot. Kevin Møller got off to a good start and saved a seven-meter penalty. Simon Pytlick increased the lead to 9:5 on the counter-attack and the SG dictated proceedings. "Super, Flensburg!" sang the fans. Lasse Møller made it 20:13 with his sixth goal and it was clear at the break. As a reward, the fans once again choreographed the club colors on the way to the dressing room.

A low well overcome
Would the second half be exciting again? The first attack resulted in a Wembley goal, which was only awarded after video evidence. Simon Pytlick was the scorer, who was also responsible for the next two goals. The score was 23:16 and the SG fans were in high spirits. Their favorites suddenly fell into a hole. A 0:6 negative run gave the game a completely different character. Importantly, Johannes Golla put a follow-up throw into the net to make it 24:22. The SG now regained its usual consistency in its positional attack. Emil Jakobsen converted a seven-meter penalty with nerves of steel to make it 30:26, while Benjamin Burić was now in the box and was able to put on his honey-cake horse face a few times. Simon Pytlick showed a lot of determination, scored and increased the lead to 34:29. The final minutes were no longer exciting, but characterized by victory chants from the SG supporters. Everything was ready for a small, communal party. Because the action continues on Tuesday: THW Kiel come to the GP JOULE Arena at 6.45 p.m. to kick off the EHF European League.
