For the third time in a row, SG Flensburg-Handewitt has to play away from home in the DAIKIN HBL. It is against HC Erlangen. Will they manage their second win of the year? Kick-off is at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
The mood could be better. After Thursday's training session, thoughts were still somewhat focused on the 114th national derby and Tuesday's defeat. It was noticeable that things went worse after the break than before half-time for the third time. Apparently, not everyone has got back into the rhythm of club handball after the European Championships. "I don't want to spread panic," says Aleš Pajović. "We have to learn from our mistakes and simply do better." The SG coach knows from his own long playing career: "When the mood is down, you have to invest everything to play a good game and get back on track." 14 players will travel to Franconia this Friday. There will be another training session on site. Hopefully with all the players, as there is always a question mark over the current wave of colds.
In Nuremberg against a Flensburg team
HC Erlangen fought its way to a respectable draw against SC Magdeburg this season, but has picked up just 4:16 points from its last ten games. "Every opponent is dangerous in the DAIKIN HBL," warns Aleš Pajović. He made his SG debut in Nuremberg twelve months ago. His new team had to work hard back then, but ultimately won 32:26. Icelandic left-handed Viggo Kristjansson is the most dangerous HCE scorer this season. Marek Nissen is right behind him. Born in Flensburg, he was once German youth champion with the SG before joining the Franconian Bundesliga club via TuS N-Lübbecke. The half-back has already scored 78 goals this season.
