The 24-year-old has informed the club that he is making use of his contractually agreed exit clause. This brings his time in Flensburg to an end after four years since he joined the club in the summer of 2023.
"Simon's decision to leave us prematurely so soon after extending his contract naturally hits us hard," said SG Managing Director Holger Glandorf. "We would have loved to continue working with him and shape the next few years of our club together. Nevertheless, we have to respect the fact that he is exercising his contractual option and has chosen a new perspective for himself. We must now look to the future: we will continue on our chosen path - and we are convinced that we will successfully continue on this path from summer 2027 with a different personnel constellation."
"It was important to me to make the decision transparent at an early stage. I am 100% committed to SG until the summer of 2027 and will do everything I can to be successful together. My move is not a decision against the club, but a decision for a new challenge in my life. The last few years here have meant an incredible amount to me. I would like to thank the fans for their great support and hope that they can understand my decision. We still have a lot to do before I leave and I'm looking forward to throwing everything into it," says Simon Pytlick about his move.
