It goes blow by blow. Just three days after the 113th national derby, the overture for the next competition begins. The SG Flensburg-Handewitt start the EHF European League against Saint-Raphaël Var Handball. Kick-off in the GP JOULE Arena is at 8.45 pm.
It is now official. The Final Four of the EHF European League will be held in Hamburg for the third time in a row. Participation is of course the big goal for the SG, but it all starts with the preliminary round. "We're happy with the draw," says Aleš Pajović. "But the group will require our full concentration." The SG coach will first deal with Saint-Raphaël Var Handball. The French club won 33:28 against Toulouse on Saturday, but is only in eighth place in its league so far. They have already lost against Tremblay, PSG and Nantes. "They have a strong defense and play fast, but if we carry on like we have in recent weeks - we'll get the two points," said Aleš Pajović. "The only danger is losing focus after such an emotional derby."
EHF European League: Different playing systems and new territory
Aleš Pajović viewed the video material extensively on Sunday. The team and staff met for a training session on Sunday. The tactical meeting followed today, Monday. Internationals traditionally have to expect rather unfamiliar styles of play. "The transition from the DAIKIN HBL to the EHF European League has gone very well for us over the past two years," says Lasse Møller. He announces: "We want to show that we enjoy playing the EHF European League." Domen Novak is looking forward to the next new territory after his derby premiere: The Slovenian once had a taste of the EHF Champions League with RK Celje, but he is not yet familiar with the EHF European League. He demands: "We have to keep up the pace and want to keep scoring points."
