In the footsteps of the pros - the Flensburg Academy and the SG Flensburg-Handewitt are organizing the Youngsters' Day on Saturday and Sunday for the eleventh time. This event has established itself in the handball calendar in recent years, but each time it also breaks new ground. The Handewitter Wikinghalle will now be the venue for this youth event for the first time.
Almost twelve months ago, the youngster highlight lasted two days for the first time and left "Hell North" for it. After a detour via the Fördehalle, it now lands in the "Ur-Hölle-Nord". This is the name given to the Wikinghalle in handball circles, as it was there that the enthusiasm for handball at SG Weiche-Handewitt's home games in the 1980s was awakened and has continued to grow. Now the young handball players are returning to this original venue, which has been given a facelift in recent years. The Wikinghalle has been renovated and branded with historical handball images and graffiti art.
Games and supporting program
There is a supporting program that appeals to young and old alike, even away from the sporting component. A bouncy castle, raffle and face painting will be garnished with catering. Handball is of course the main focus. On Saturday, a tournament for the E-youth will take place from 9 am to 4 pm. From 5 pm it's all about points. First, the SG's U19s will compete in their national league. On the last match day, they will play VfL Horneburg for the important fifth place, which would guarantee an automatic starting place in the next series. At 7.30 p.m. there will be a novelty: DHK Flensborg will play a home game in the Wikinghalle for the first time. The SG's cooperation partner has gained some ground on the third division relegation zone in recent weeks and is now looking forward to the encounter with the traditional club Empor Rostock. Sunday will open at 8.30 a.m. with a three-hour children's handball tournament. This will be followed by three more matches. At 12:15 p.m., the U14s will welcome MTV Dänischenhagen. At 2 p.m., the U15s look forward to playing TSV Kronshagen. The kick-off for the men's regional league is at 4pm. The SG U23s will be looking to confirm their good season so far and pick up two more points against HT Norderstedt.
