- SG distanced Bergischer HC by 36:29

A wire-to-wire win

SG Flensburg-Handewitt ended the year 2025 with a win and goes into February in second place in the DAIKIN HBL table. It beat Bergischer HC 36:29 (21:16) on the second national holiday. The SG's top scorers were Domen Novak (8) and Emil Jakobsen (5/1).

A few minutes before kick-off, it was announced that Domen Novak had extended his contract until 2031. That was a nice Christmas present. The team wanted to tie the second one on the pitch for the sold-out "Hell North". Fittingly, it was Domen Novak who opened the scoring. Johannes Golla increased the lead to 3:0 with a spectacular backhand shot. Niclas Kirkeløkke had to be treated early on. The SG now played with three right-handed players at the back for several attacks, but still had everything under control. Emil Jakobsen countered to make it 7:3 and Benjamin Burić had already made five saves after ten minutes. Simon Pytlick scored twice and then Lasse Møller - and it was already 10:3. The SG then briefly lost its way somewhat. Bergischer HC reduced the deficit to 9:12. A team timeout came at the right time: The SG acted more consistently again and soon had five or six goals between itself and its opponents again. The spectators enjoyed the many goals. Aleš Pajović used the full width of the bench and had already brought on all players apart from Kevin Møller at the break.

After the break
The score was 21:16 at half-time. And the lively scoring continued after the restart. The SG scored from all positions. Domen Novak made it 26:18 and the SG was eight goals ahead for the first time. "Flensburg", chanted the North Stand during a timeout. "Handewitt," echoed back from the other side. Christmas is also a time of great handball spirit. And especially when the SG is heading for two safe points. Niclas Kirkeløkke made it 28:19 with his assertiveness. Kevin Møller was now in goal, the last player to collect his Christmas minutes and celebrate his SG outing number 300. At the other end, Marko Grgić made it 30:20: The ace from the backcourt gave the SG a ten-goal lead for the first time. With ten minutes remaining, the score was even 33:21 and the home side shifted down a gear in the feeling of certain victory. The last SG goal of the year went to Lukas Jørgensen. "Flensburg-Handewitt" - the players celebrated once again with their fans. The action does not resume in the GP JOULE Arena until mid-February.
