The dream finale

The German-Danish border region has its dream final. Denmark and Germany will face each other in Herning on Sunday at 6 pm. Seven SG Flensburg-Handewitt players are expected to take part.

It was the DHB team's turn first. Johannes Golla was in the starting line-up as usual and asserted himself at the circle for the first time at 3:3. Initially, the Croatians' offensive defense caused a few problems. Towards the end of the first half, things started to improve. Marko Grgić also got involved in this phase, but had no luck with his two shots. The German players went in at the break with a 17:15 lead. The German team's best spell came after the restart. Johannes Golla scored three goals within a short space of time - and Germany were 25:18 ahead. "We won several balls in defense and scored almost everything in front," said the pivot. The game became a little tighter towards the end, but Germany's place in the final was no longer in danger. Johannes Golla was jubilant after the 31:28 victory: "I'm proud to be part of this team." This is the captain's second final in a national jersey - after the 2024 Olympics.

The same result in the second game
While the German players were still celebrating, most of the 15,000 spectators were already looking forward to the next highlight: Denmark against Iceland. Emil Jakobsen scored the first two goals for the favorites: from a seven-meter penalty and from the wing. However, the opening phase went to the handball players from the North Atlantic. The score was 3:6, but then the Danes gradually opened up. Simon Pytlick thundered through to make it 8:8. The half-time analysis was given with the score at 14:13. It was a hot dance. Kevin Møller stepped between the posts for a seven-meter penalty and prevented a deficit at 19:19. The Danes now became dominant. Simon Pytlick acted with great dynamism and increased the score to 26:23. The Jyske Bank Boxen was a party temple. The final score of 31:28 was only something for chroniclers. "We've improved in attack from game to game," said Lasse Møller. "I'm really looking forward to the final. It will be a game in which I don't begrudge Johannes Golla the victory." It will be the first final at Jyske Bank Boxen for both the half-back and Niclas Kirkeløkke, who was injured in 2019. "We have a home game," said the left-hander. "It will be physically very tough again, we have to give it our all for 60 minutes."
