SG Flensburg-Handewitt played its first preseason game of the 2026–27 season. After a strong second-half performance, they defeated the Danish club SAH 35–33 (13–15).
“Move closer together!” urged arena announcer Michael “Holzi” Holst. The Wikinghalle was completely sold out with 1,200 fans and had an atmosphere almost like in the days of the “original Hölle Nord.” For the SG’s coaching staff, other aspects took center stage. For example, integrating the new signings. Three were in the starting lineup. Aymeric Minne started up front. Arnar Freyr Arnarsson and Emil Bergholt formed the center block. Top player Blaž Blagotinšek did not play due to workload management. The SG needed some time to get going and didn’t score their first goal until four minutes in. Simon Pytlick was dynamic and had already scored eight goals by halftime. The first 30 minutes, however, belonged to SAH. The visitors from Denmark quickly took a 6–2 lead and carried that cushion through the first half. “You could tell our legs were heavy after the grueling physical training program of the last few days,” said SG coach Aleš Pajović. “Besides, it was very warm in the arena, and since the ball was damp, we missed more chances than usual.”
22 Goals in the Second 30 Minutes
Aleš Pajović didn’t change the game plan much for the second half. The motto: “Rotate the lineup, keep the tempo high, and try something in attack.” Aymeric Minne scored his first goal for the SG at 16–18. To the delight of the crowd, the SG closed the gap. Domen Novak scored twice in quick succession to make it 21:22. It was then Lasse Møller who tied the score at 23:23. Simon Möller guarded the SG goal in the second 30 minutes and had some strong moments. “I was a little nervous at the start, but after my first save ten minutes in, I was in the zone,” the Swede revealed later. “The coordination with the defense worked better.” Marko Grgic scored to make it 28–27. The SG dominated the closing minutes. “Stand up if you’re from Flensburg,” the fans chanted. “It was a heated game in a really great atmosphere,” said Emil Bergholt. “Now I’m looking forward even more to the first home game.” First, though, it was time for the autograph hunters. In the second game of the day, DHK Flensborg had lost 24–29 to TSV Altenholz.
