Season Opener Against a Familiar Opponent
For SG, the first home game of the 26/27 season is a repeat of the last home game of the previous season. ThSV Eisenach will be visiting the GP JOULE Arena for the Bundesliga opener and should be very familiar to the Flensburg team by that point. The two teams will already face off during preseason at the Wartburg Cup.
Challenging First Weeks
Following the home opener, two challenging away games await. First, on the second matchday, the SG travels to Bergischer HC. The BHC will not only face challenges in the Bundesliga but, as the cup runner-up, will also compete on the international stage. On the third matchday, the SG returns to play in front of its home crowd, hosting HC Erlangen, before heading out a week later for the traditional away game at TBV Lemgo Lippe.
Derby Weeks in September
Matchday 5 features the season’s first northern derby. Handball Sport Verein Hamburg will be the visiting team at the “Hölle Nord.” This local derby traditionally promises plenty of excitement and a lively atmosphere.
Just one week later comes the first highlight of the season: On the sixth matchday, the SG travels to face THW Kiel. Up in the far north, the 117th regional derby is on the schedule—a matchup that has been one of handball’s greatest classics for decades.
A Star-Studded October
October also offers fans numerous exciting matches. At the GP JOULE Arena, the SG will first host FRISCH AUF! Göppingen, before one of the top favorites, Füchse Berlin, comes to Flensburg.
On the road, two more challenging matches await against TSV Hannover-Burgdorf and VfL Gummersbach.
The first eleven matchdays scheduled so far will conclude with a home game against HBL newcomer HBW Balingen-Weilstetten.
HBL ticket sales begin on August 2 at 10:00 a.m. in the SG online ticket shop and on August 3 at 1:00 p.m. at the SG fan shop, as well as at all other SG ticket outlets.
