Bitter news for the SG Flensburg-Handewitt, for the Danish national team and above all for Lukas Jørgensen himself. The pivot suffered a torn cruciate ligament.
Lukas Jørgensen was ruled out of yesterday's EHF EURO 2026 match against Romania during the second half with an injury. Today's examinations confirmed the fears: The 26-year-old will neither be able to finish the tournament for the Danish team nor play for the SG this season. "Lukas Jørgensen's injury is a serious setback for him and for us as a club," said SG managing director Holger Glandorf. "We will miss Lukas a lot, both as a player and as a person. Now the focus is on providing him with the best possible support during his recovery."
Lukas Jørgensen says: "At the moment, everything still feels a bit surreal. I can hardly believe that I played my last game for Flensburg in December. I first need some time to realize that. I'm looking forward to returning to Germany and supporting the boys from the sidelines for the rest of the season."
