The SG Flensburg-Handewitt will have to do without playmaker Luca Witzke for the rest of the current season.
Due to persistent discomfort in his shoulder, a joint arthroscopy was carried out, which surprisingly revealed structural changes that had to be treated surgically.
Managing director Holger Glandorf explains: "This news is naturally a big blow for Luca and for us as a team. At the same time, health is always our top priority. We will support Luca as best we can on his way back onto the pitch and are convinced that he will emerge stronger from this situation. As a club, we will now look closely at how we can best support the team to make up for his absence."
