The 2025/26 EHF European League season has come to an end. SG Flensburg-Handewitt finished in third place and will most likely compete in this tournament again next season.
Aleš Pajović, SG Coach: “This weekend was a double disappointment because we didn’t win the title or qualify for the EHF Champions League. It wasn’t easy to motivate my guys for this game. After all, it was just about third place. My team showed character. The same goes for Montpellier HB. Luck was on our side. We now have the last two games of the season to play, and then we’ll analyze everything to do better next season.”
Kevin Møller, SG goalkeeper: “We arrived in Hamburg a day late. In the semifinals, things didn’t go as we’d planned. We didn’t stand a chance against Melsungen’s incredible performance. It was good for our morale and for the final week of the season that we at least secured the bronze.”
Johannes Golla, SG Captain: “In the match for third place, we put in more effort than the day before. People say you can learn from setbacks, but I really wanted to qualify for the EHF Champions League with the SG. Last year we were celebrating while three other teams went home disappointed. Now we’re one of those three disappointed teams. You shouldn’t judge a season based on a single weekend. I think we were more consistent overall this season than last. Right now, I’m still disappointed that we’re not in the final.”
