Christmas 2025 ended with a win for the SG Flensburg-Handewitt. The two points against Bergischer HC were never in danger. The sound bites.
Aleš Pajović, SG Coach: "This first part of the season was very long. We got off to a very good start against BHC. We had 21 saves. That shows that the goalkeepers and defense worked well. We now go into the new year in second place. Now I wish our players every success with their national teams in January and that they return healthy. We'll continue in February."
Markus Pütz, Head Coach of Bergischer HC: "We weren't really there at the start and failed several times against the goalkeeper. When a goalkeeper has around 20 saves, a coach is happy to see a lot of security from behind. We were never in contention for the win. We showed morale in the last ten minutes and didn't go down."
Domen Novak, SG right winger: "Our first goal was two points. From that point of view, it's all good. The gap could perhaps have been a little bigger in the end. We ran well and scored a few goals from counter-attacks. We weren't as compact at the back, though, and rebounds weren't our thing either. Now we're looking forward to a few days' vacation. We can be satisfied with the first half of the season."
