- SG can take two points from Kassel

More goalkeeper saves, more efficiency

The SG remains unbeaten away from home this season. It won 35:32 (16:14) at MT Melsungen on Friday evening. The SG's top scorers were Marko Grgić (9/1) and Simon Pytlick (8).

The SG had to make do without Luca Witzke in Kassel. The backcourt player suffered a ligament injury in his ankle in the game against Turda and will also be out for the next six to eight weeks. This reduced the number of substitutions in the backcourt. In the Rothenbach-Halle, which was sold out for the first time this season, both teams got off to a brisk start with plenty of goals. The SG had a vociferous block of fans in attendance, who went wild when their favorites conjured up a 5:0 run. Kent Robin Tønnesen made it 8:4 and MT Melsungen went six minutes without scoring. A sense of achievement for the 6:0 defense, in which Johannes Golla and Lukas Jørgensen formed the middle block. Technical mistakes and a time penalty against Marko Grgić saw the lead dwindle. If Benjamin Burić had not saved a number of shots after his birthday yesterday, the visitors would have equalized very quickly. As it was, the score was 13:13 after 25 minutes and Ales Pajović needed to discuss both the defense and the attack, where the shooting percentage had dropped below 60 percent. Simon Pytlick and Marko Grgić seized control again, with the result that the club from the north went into the break with a two-goal lead.

Decisive spurt after 20:20
The small half-time cushion was used up with the home side's first two positional attacks. It smelled like a hot dance into the final phase. A pass from Simon Pytlick only reached Johannes Golla with a little luck. The captain scored to make it 22:20 for the SG. Benjamin Burić deflected a shot onto the crossbar with his upper arm. Little things that helped them take a four-goal lead. Emil Jakobsen, who was hardly played on that evening, had to be treated for a foul on his shoulder and was ruled out. The visitors went into the final ten minutes with a 28:26 lead. It was a valuable asset for the SG that Benjamin Burić had a clear advantage in the goalkeeper duel. Marko Grgić and Simon Pytlick also did not give the impression that they were on their last legs despite their constant pressure. The Dane increased the lead to 32:28 with a hearty shot and shortly afterwards fell over the legs of one of the two referees. A small moment of shock without any bad consequences. What was decisive was that the SG's efficiency in the second half was higher than in the first. As a result, nothing more was scored and the SG was able to head home with two points.
