- SG let a big lead slip away against Erlangen

Made exciting once again

The SG Flensburg-Handewitt go into the international match week as leaders of the DAIKIN HBL table. It won 36:30 (19:14) against HC Erlangen on Sunday evening. The SG's top scorers were Marko Grgic (8) and Johannes Golla (8).

There's no better way to start a Sunday game: "Stand up if you're Flensburg!" The team took the fans' momentum with them. Marko Grgić and Simon Pytlick scored the first goals of the day. The 6-0 defense formed immediately. Emil Jakobsen converted the first fast break to make it 3:0. The left wing once again scored from all angles and converted a seven-meter penalty to make it 8:3. The SG controlled proceedings. The passes to the pivot worked. Johannes Golla scored the tenth goal after just under a quarter of an hour. Domen Novak produced an impressive display of his speed to make it 14:7, followed by a hat-trick from Marko Grgić - and the "Hölle Nord" actually celebrated a ten-goal lead: "Once Flensburg, always Flensburg!" However, the phase before the break was not one of the best, meaning that the cushion was halved.

Free-swimming at the end
The negative trend was initially not halted after the restart. HC Erlangen capitalized on its first two offenses to cut the deficit to 16:19, after which the SG's engine started up again. Marko Grgić, Emil Jakobsen and Domen Novak made the most of their chances. A save by Emil Jakobsen, who snatched the ball from an HCE fast break and celebrated with the fans, was also worth seeing. However, the home side did not regain the rhythm of the first 20 minutes. Aleš Pajović intervened with the buzzer at 23:21. His players were simply making too many technical faults. It was good that the visitors did not get any closer in this spell. When Johannes Golla scored from the pivot to make it 28:24, the situation had eased somewhat. In the next offense, Simon Pytlick shot through the defensive line, scored and immediately went into an emotional celebration with the fans. Blaž Blagotinšek followed up with a monster block. "Hölle Nord" had left worry mode in terms of the result and had to digest a foul on Simon Pytlick that was penalized with red. The Dane was sent to the dressing room early. The good news: Lukas Jørgensen returned to the court. And Thilo Knutzen also made a brief appearance.
