SG Flensburg-Handewitt had to settle for a 37:37 (20:17) draw against VfL Gummersbach, but remain second in the DAIKIN Handball Bundesliga. The sound bites.
Aleš Pajović, SG Coach:"We gave away a point and I'm not happy that we missed our target of two points. But I'm satisfied with my team's performance. They fought and played at a high tempo. Our attack and our goalkeeping were very good in the first half and I had a good feeling at the break. In the second half, we had a few problems at the back, certainly also because we ran out of steam a little. But now we have to look ahead. There are still a lot of important games for us in December."
Guðjón Valur Sigurðsson, VfL coach:"I'm overjoyed, proud and satisfied. It was a balanced and spectacular attacking game in the second half. The trip to the far north was worthwhile for us."
Marko Grgić, SG top scorer (13 goals):"Of course it's not a point gained. And it's unfortunate, because when you're leading with a minute and a half to go, you should get the win over the finish line. It's bad luck, but we've got further to go. You can hardly blame us going forward. Of course, we missed a few shots, but with 37 goals, we should win. Our positional attack was very efficient, apart from a few little things. We weren't as successful at the back this time, but our guys in the center block did a great job and that's okay. My last shot was actually perfect, but it hit the inside post and it just wasn't meant to be. That's fate sometimes.
