SG Flensburg-Handewitt came within a hair’s breadth of becoming the first team to win at SC Magdeburg since March 2025. In the end, they came up short. Here’s what they had to say.
Aleš Pajović, SG Coach: “That was very bitter. But hats off to my guys—they fought brilliantly until the very end. Unfortunately, that’s how it goes in sports: one has to win and one has to lose. We would have deserved a point. Now we need to look ahead quickly, even if it’s hard. We congratulate SC Magdeburg on winning the German championship. It was a good game for us; the team was very focused. Unfortunately, we couldn’t pull it off in crunch time.”
Bennet Wiegert, SC Magdeburg coach: “We were already carrying a bit of a burden. We were so determined to push through the game that we lacked a bit of that lightness. With that energy in the arena, we couldn’t let up. I feel a bit sorry for Flensburg. They absolutely deserved a point.”
