It was a tough battle. In the end, though, it was enough, and SG Flensburg-Handewitt qualified for the round of 16 in the DHB Cup.
Emil Bergholt, SG captain: “This game against a second-division team was incredibly tough. At least one of the Lübeck players had the game of his life. Every shot just went in perfectly. Nevertheless, we should have played better, even if it was enough for us in the end. In the middle of the second half, we were a bit better in one-on-one situations, made a few saves, and thus scored more easy goals on the first and second waves.”
Simon Pytlick, SG backcourt player: “Hats off to Lübeck—they really played a good game. That said, you’re always going to run into trouble when you give up 35 goals. We weren’t able to support our goalkeepers more. We simply have to play better on defense. The atmosphere in the arena was electric, and we were under pressure. We made it hard on ourselves.”
