- Extensive preparation for the home match against GWD Minden

Focus on athletic performance

After 13 days, the SG Flensburg-Handewitt has another task to solve. The number should bring luck, because a win against GWD Minden is firmly planned. Kick-off in the GP JOULE Arena is tomorrow, Friday, at 8 pm.

When things aren't going so well, a little distance is always a good recipe - to clear your head and prepare for new tasks. The SG family had split up in different directions after the recent derby defeat. Four players were away with their national teams. The majority trained together with cooperation partner Sonderjyske HH, in small groups or individually, and then enjoyed a weekend to relax. During these days, they trained together again - and also talked a lot. "We want to achieve our goals and will therefore go from game to game," summarizes Aleš Pajović. The SG coach reports a good week of training, in which the focus should be on athletic development. "I'm optimistic that we'll put in a good performance against Minden."

A game to gather momentum?
Positive memories of the first leg in Minden - which ended in a clear 40:27 victory - predominate. The downer back then: Luca Witzke injured his shoulder and underwent surgery a few weeks later. He will not return to the pitch this season. For his team-mates, the success in Westphalia was the start of a run of 14 wins across all competitions. "We now want to build momentum for the last two months," emphasized Aleš Pajovic. "We want to get into a flow, handball is also a lot about the head." The SG backcourt should be somewhat broader than last time out. Marko Grgic was also suffering from an infection last week, but is now back. Simon Pytlick, on the other hand, will have to continue to take care of his abdominal muscle problems and will probably be used more in moderation. "We still need him for the next few games," explained Aleš Pajović.
