- Quotes on the win against the Rhein-Neckar Löwen

"It was a very difficult away game in this hall"

The game was open for a long time before the SG was able to pull away decisively in the second half. In the end, it was a deserved away win. Comments on the game.

Benjamin Burić, SG goalkeeper: "We're really happy about the win, because it was a very difficult away game in this arena against a good team. We trained well during the week and did a good job today. It was a good performance in defense in particular, just like last time. The 6-0 defense was very good because we communicate a lot with each other. We were also ready from the start and all that makes it easier for me as a goalkeeper. We invested a lot, it gave me a good feeling and things went well. In the end, it doesn't matter that we conceded 33 goals. We should rather talk about the goals we scored. We'd like to score 40 goals because that's our system and that's handball. So 36 goals is very good and in the end it's only the 2 points and our place in the table that count anyway."

Niclas Kirkeløkke, SG backcourt player: "I would have been quite happy with a win with a three-goal difference beforehand. But we know that the games against the Lions are always close, so the win is a nice feeling. We had a bit of trouble in defense, but fought our way back at the end of the first half. When we do our thing, we're hard to beat - and that's how it was today. We have a good team with good players and we showed that in the second half. Our defense was better and Benko made an outstanding save. We did throw a few balls away, but kept our cool in the end.
The start to the second half obviously helped us, but it was only our mistakes that got the Lions back into the game. Overall, we were very stable today, made few mistakes and built on the performances of the last few games, in which we played very well. In the last few games, we had problems in 7-on-6, but that worked much better today."

Aleš Pajović, SG Coach: "I'm very satisfied. It wasn't an easy away game, where it was a matter of course to get the two points. The first half was tight, we fought but didn't manage to take the lead. We picked up the momentum in the second half and Benko's 16 saves made it a bit easier for us. We worked well and I congratulate my boys - they did a very good job."

Maik Machulle, Lions coach: "In the end, it's a deserved win for Flensburg, especially because of the second half. In the first half, we failed to give ourselves a clearer lead at the break. We defended well and caused the SG a lot of problems, but our own mistakes allowed Flensburg back into the game. Flensburg played out their attacks long and patiently, which we were unable to defend well in the end. In the end, the SG also clearly won the goalkeeping duel, but in the end it was still a close result. It's disappointing for us, but a big compliment to the spectators, who gave us incredible support today. We would have loved to have given a full SAP Arena the two points."
