SG Flensburg-Handewitt also won its third game of the season in the Opel Bundesliga. The final score against HC Erlangen was 38–33 (23–20).
The season couldn’t have gotten off to a better start. After three matchdays in the Opel Bundesliga, SG Flensburg-Handewitt has secured three wins and thus has the maximum possible points total of 6:0.
Following victories over Eisenach and at Bergischer HC, the team capped off a busy week with its third win. The final score against HC Erlangen was 38–33 (23–20).
The first bit of good news came even before the opening throw. Emil Jakobsen and Aymeric Minne, who had come out of the BHC game slightly banged up, were able to play—and how. Minne scored the SG’s first three goals, and Jakobsen finished as the top scorer with ten goals.
In front of 6,039 fans, the SG led from the start. Simon Möller sparked the first emotional outburst of the evening by saving a seven-meter throw (16th minute), and after 20 minutes of play, the score was 15–10. A few lapses in concentration meant a slightly narrower 23–20 lead at halftime.
Möller started the second half in goal in place of Benjamin Burić. Just as Erlangen closed the gap slightly to 25–23 (36th minute), Simon Pytlick unleashed a thunderous underhand shot. Once again, Flensburg pulled ahead by five goals, and their offensive machine was unstoppable. In the end, they scored 38 goals, securing their third victory and thus a perfect first week of the new season.
