The main round of the EHF European League doesn't actually start until February 17, but the SG already feels like it's stepping up to the next level. Both they and their current opponents Irudek Bidasoa Irun, who can no longer be caught by Saint-Raphael due to the successful direct comparison, have already progressed. As the format stipulates that the points from the two games against each other are taken into account, the last preliminary round game is of enormous importance. A 33:32 victory from northern Spain is already on the SG record. Will points three and four follow? "We definitely want to take the two points," demanded SG coach Aleš Pajović.
Two games within 48 hours
The SG kicked off the new week on Monday afternoon. It is important to quickly put the annoying point loss on Saturday behind them and prepare for the upcoming tasks. The first game is against Irudek Bidasoa Irun on Tuesday at 6:45 p.m. and then against Lemgo 48 hours later. "We're fully focused on Irun," emphasized Aleš Pajović and is hoping for a kind of defiant reaction from his players: "In view of all the games, our bodies aren't quite as fresh at the moment." Irudek Bidasoa Irun impressed in a 34:24 win against Atletico Valladolid on Saturday and maintained fourth place in the Spanish league. Lasse Møller was injured in the SG's 33:32 win in the first leg. The backcourt ace will not be available again. Which youngsters will play will be decided at short notice. As over 4,000 tickets have already been sold, the GP JOULE Arena will open its doors at 5.15 pm.
