An international national derby

The SG Flensburg-Handewitt now face a tough and exciting international challenge. The opening game in the main round of the EHF European League is national derby number 114, with THW Kiel coming to town on Tuesday. Kick-off in the GP JOULE Arena is at 18:45.

Gold, silver and bronze - THW Kiel welcomed several medal winners after the European Championships. Danish left winger Magnus Landin even celebrated the title. Goalkeeper Andreas Wolff and the two wingers Lukas Zerbe and Rune Dahmke were runners-up with the DHB team. Circle player Veron Nacinovic won bronze with Croatia. According to Adam Riese, that makes five medals. Right winger Bence Imre (Hungary), circle player Lukas Laube (Switzerland) and backcourt ace Eric Johansson (Sweden) were also involved in the main round. For Austria's Nikola Bilyk, the European Championship was already over at the preliminary round. Likewise for playmaker Elias Ellefsen á Skipagötu. With the Faroe Islands, he at least experienced some very atmospheric matches in Oslo. Harald Reinkind had to cancel his participation at short notice due to a foot injury. The Norwegian left-hander was rested for a test match in Eutin at the beginning of February, but was back on Wednesday in the 28:27 win in Mannheim.

Good starting base for the second half of the season
The "Zebras" had already reacted in December and provided him with a positional colleague in Mohab Abdelhak. The Egyptian became African champion in Rwanda, Central Africa, in January. Emil Madsen, actually the number one at right back, will not play this season due to a knee injury. The "Zebras" started the second half of the season in fifth place in the DAIKIN HBL and still have a good chance of advancing to the places that mean participation in the EHF Champions League. Their record in the EHF European League has been spotless so far. The tasks against KPR Ostrovia Ostrow Wielkopolski and BSV Bern were completed with aplomb. The two victories they took into the main round are particularly valuable: a 30:28 away win and a 27:18 home win against Montpellier HB.
