The first points of 2026 are in the bank and the SG Flensburg-Handewitt's performance was good for long stretches. These are the key takeaways from the win in Hamburg. The sound bites.
Kevin Møller, SG keeper: "The first half was really good - at the front and at the back. The second half was a bit chaotic. Hamburg came out of the dressing room like rockets. It then became difficult again when we conceded too many goals. Then we got back to our level. The points were incredibly important. We now only have important games left. It was a first step towards getting back into our rhythm."
Aleš Pajović, SG Coach: "After the poor game in Gummersbach, we wanted to step on the gas and get the two points at all costs. We did really well in the first half. The defense stood firm at the back, Kevin made his saves and we scored quickly after switching gears. We conceded too many goals in the second half and had stressful situations again. We then played the game calmly to the end."
Torsten Jansen, Head Coach HSV Hamburg: "We got off to a bad start against Leipzig and didn't get into our rhythm. That seemed to happen again today. There was too little energy and everything was too error-prone. I was correspondingly dissatisfied at half-time. I saw a completely different team in the second half. We could have made even more of it."
