Who is the most successful goal scorer in the history of SG Flensburg-Handewitt? Who on the current roster is already relatively high up on the list? The club’s “all-time” statistics have the answer and reveal some astonishing numbers. Unsurprisingly, seven of the ten most prolific scorers are also members of the Hall of Fame. Here’s an overview.
1. Lars Christiansen, 3,996/1,623 goals
The Danish left wing played for the SG from 1996 to 2010 and, during that time, became the SG’s all-time leading scorer with 3,996 goals. He later returned briefly as a sports consultant, lives in Juelsminde, and remains closely connected to the handball world.
2. Anders Eggert, 2,531/1,268 goals
The left wing played for the SG for ten years between 2006 and 2017. In the summer of 2024, he returned for one season as an assistant coach and then took over as head coach of the Danish second-division club KIF Kolding, with whom he has just been promoted.
3. Lasse Svan, 2,496/20 goals
The right wing joined from GOG in 2008 and stayed until 2022. That’s an impressive 14 years with the SG, during which he won seven titles, including two German championships. Today, Lasse Svan lives in Kolding, works as a mental coach, and enjoys stopping by to visit the SG.
4. Thomas Mogensen, 1869/13 goals
The playmaker joined from GOG in 2007. His time with SG came to an end in 2018 after eleven years, following the championship win. Until recently, Thomas Mogensen was the sports manager at SG’s partner club, Sønderjyske HH, and then took on a professional role outside of handball.
5. Holger Glandorf, 1,731 goals
The left-hander joined SG in 2011 after stints in Nordhorn and Lemgo and has been a Northern Light ever since. He ended his playing career in 2020 and now serves as SG’s managing director.
6. Johannes Golla, 1,390 goals
In 2018, the pivot transferred from MT Melsungen to the SG. He experienced a rapid rise in his career and became captain after just one season. The 28-year-old has just moved back to North Hesse.
7. Jim Gottfridsson, 1,310/47 goals
The playmaker wore the SG jersey for twelve years. He arrived from southern Sweden as a highly talented young player. Last summer, the 33-year-old moved on to Szeged, Hungary. He is currently a free agent.
8. Emil Jakobsen, 1,283/468 goals
The left wing is the youngest member of this illustrious list and the next candidate who could break into the top 5. The 28-year-old has only been scoring goals for the SG since 2021 and has already racked up an impressive tally in this relatively short time.
9. Hampus Wanne, 1,204/343 goals
As a young talent who learned the basics of handball in Gothenburg, he once knocked on the SG’s door. After nine years, the Swede felt that this chapter had run its course and sought a new athletic adventure with FC Barcelona. The 32-year-old now plays for the Danish club HØJ Elite.
10. Jan Glöe, 1,203/311 goals
The former backcourt player is the only deceased member of this illustrious gallery. He represents a completely different era of handball and wore the SG Weiche-Handewitt jersey from 1976 to 1988, with a two-year hiatus.
