Denmark outstrips Germany

In the second half, Denmark made everything clear and defeated Germany 31:26. While the Danebrog team is safely in the semi-finals, the DHB team still needs one more point to participate in the final round of the EHF EURO this weekend.

15,000 spectators again created a great atmosphere in the Jyske Bank Boxen. The German handball team got off to a slightly better start. Marko Grgić , who scored the first German goal, was in the starting line-up, as was Johannes Golla. They immediately had direct duels with Simon Pytlick (8), Emil Jakobsen (4/3) and Niclas Kirkeløkke (3). The left-handed player again covered as a half-back and played on the right wing in attack. Lasse Møller made a brief appearance just before the break. Kevin Møller guarded the Danish goal from a seven-meter penalty. The ball hit the crossbar - and the Danes went into the dressing room with a 13:12 lead. "We deserved to be leading at half-time," said Marko Grgić. "So many shots hit the post or the crossbar."

The second half
Marko Grgić scored goals number three and four straight after the break. And that was that. The Danes were now ahead in the goalkeeping duel and increasingly gained the upper hand. Simon Pytlick really turned on the heat after 45 minutes and conjured up a six-goal series. "In the beginning, it was more a game of defense and Emil Nielsen," said the backcourt ace. "But we played some really nice handball in the last 20 minutes." By the time Johannes Golla scored his two goals, the game was already decided. "I didn't think we'd be in the semi-finals just one matchday before the end of the main round after losing to Portugal," said Kevin Møller. Marko Grgić was already looking ahead: "We can build on our performance in the first half."

Here's what happens next
The decisions will be made on Wednesday. At 6 p.m., the DHB team will face France. ARD will be broadcasting. At 8.30 pm, Denmark will play Norway and would clinch victory in the main round with a win. The Slovenians still have two match days to go in the other round. On Tuesday they play Croatia at 18:00. The game against Iceland follows on Wednesday at 3.30 pm.
