Flensburg Academy

The Flensburg Academy is the training center responsible for the SG Flensburg-Handewitt's young talent. In our handball performance center, the fifteen years of successful work of the "get in touch" development association, including the coaching and accommodation of up to fifteen young, talented handball players, is further professionalized. The Flensburg Academy stands for training expertise, innovation and reliability. The entire training at the academy is based on this foundation. From U15 to U23, the boys undergo their training with us. Our aim is to bring the talented players selected in consultation with the professional coaches to Bundesliga level. A systematic and development-oriented approach enables the youngsters to train and play with us in a professional structure. The residents of the Hotel Flensburg Academy play in the SG Flensburg-Handewitt's performance-oriented youth teams.

All players have team training three to four times a week. The Flensburg Academy also offers handball-specific individual and technical training as well as up to three athletics training sessions under the supervision of qualified coaches. Players can also train at any time in our own training and weight rooms. Under supervision, they work according to individually created training plans to improve their personal skills. They receive medical care from a team of physiotherapists and cooperating doctors.

In order to be able to promote young talent at the highest possible level, the boarding school-like structures of our academy expand the talent pool of the SG Flensburg-Handewitt. With up to five young talents per team, we can provide our local and regional top talents with adequate partners. We receive inquiries from all over Europe. For the most part, however, we scout our future academy residents through our constantly growing network.

For us, performance starts with education. We accompany and individually support our academy residents on their educational path. Depending on their year level and qualifications, the boys attend various schools in the surrounding area. Academy residents at the Hotel Flensburg Academy live in single rooms. Each room is equipped with a bathroom and balcony, internet access, TV and telephone connection. A leisure room, a large kitchen and a terrace are available for communal activities. We attach great importance to a communal yet independent life for the academy residents. Whether cooking, tidying, washing or cleaning - everyone has their own area of responsibility and contributes as part of our team.
