Last summer, Dane Sijan came to the SG Flensburg-Handewitt with great expectations. Together with Dan Beutler, he was supposed to be part of a successful goalkeeper tandem after Jan Holpert retired. However, the 31-year-old didn´t get much playing time this year, so he asked the management to terminate his contract after this season.

"We don´t want to put something into Dane´s way", team manager Anders Dahl-Nielsen said. Therefore, he will return to his former club Viborg HK, where he was voted Denmark´s goalie of the year in 2006.

A couple of months ago, the SG and Michael Knudsen agreed on terms for a two-year contract extension. As there were some details to discuss with his former club Viborg HK, it was only announced now. A world class pivot player is going to wear the SG jersey until summer 2010.
