The “Wikinger” Fan Club Introduces Itself
Our club was founded in 1992 in order to bring a little more order into the then rather incoherent fan community. Our goal is to work toward becoming an effective, peaceful, and vocal support for our SG. Our club represents ca. 170 fans that enthusiastically cheer for the SG Flensburg-Handewitt at the home games. A great number of us also travel to the team’s away games.
If you would like to become a member of our club and are under 16, you have to pay a one-time registration fee of 5 Euros and 2.50 Euros each month. Students or apprentices (trainees) pay a one-time fee of 10 Euros and 3.50 Euros monthly. All others pay a 15 Euro registration fee and 5 Euros monthly.
From your club dues, we finance our club activities. First and foremost, we make arrangements for the away games. Our members pay a discounted travel price for the trips that we offer.
From time to time, we also plan some non-handball related activities in order to get to know each other better and boost our club spirit. In the past, for example, we arranged a tour of the Flensburg Brewery, trips to amusement parks, paddling on the Treene, and everyone’s favorite “Weekend in Denmark”. Some of our other club events include a summer or grill party to celebrate the season-opener, Christmas parties and our monthly “Stammtisch” (regulars’ get-together).
Those of us who like to pick-up a ball ourselves also have the opportunity to play for the fan club’s team. This team trains in the Viking Hall in Handewitt. We get ourselves in shape for the fan clubs’ tournament that takes place in the off-season. At the tournament, fan clubs from the different Bundesliga teams first battle it out on the handball court and then later enjoy a pleasant evening together. In addition to the membership dues, all these activities are also financed through the sale of fan items and a set contribution from individual participants.
